Book Week School Visit
Betty visited another school and shared her secrets of writing and editing 'Mrs Echidna's Dilemma' with four classes of Year 3 students.
The students were learning how to write stories during Book Week (celebrated in August across Australia). What better way than with a visit from the author of an award-winning book?
The children were writing and illustrating their own 'fractured fairy tales' (giving their own twist to familiar stories). They were most interested in the way 'Mrs Echidna's Dilemma' was written.
The author was able to show them how the characters and setting were chosen; how the plot was developed; how the information was researched and illustrations created for the quilts - the original artwork for the book.
