Coast to Country

A group of University of the Sunshine Coast pre-service teachers investigated teaching 'off the beaten track', visiting 13 "country" schools of various descriptions in central Queensland.  As we all know, visitors bring a gift - in this instance, a copy of 'Mrs Echidna's Dilemma' for the school libraries.  Here's the report from their intrepid leader, who has more than 40 years teaching experience under his belt:

"What an experience and what an impressive group of students. They were wonderful ambassadors for the university.

"The opportunity really opened their eyes to the diverse range of schools in the country; from small two-teacher primary schools to P - 12 schools with only 80 students in total, to the other extreme of very large primary and secondary schools, in addition to catholic and private schools.

"They were surprised at the high level of resourcing, the welcoming nature of all the staff, the well-kept schools and grounds as well as the well-behaved students...

"Your book was a big hit.  When presenting the books to the school, the students explained a little about the significance of the book and its usefulness as a teaching tool..... I have included a number of photos for you...."
