Book Week 2013 - presentations

How exciting to have a 'real' echidna on display when I presented 'Mrs Echidna's Dilemma' to the students at St Paul's Bald Hills during book week!  An echidna was on display for the week in the school library - though she migrated to the schools 'small' theatre for my presentations.

I had some interesting discussions with some Prep-Year 1 students as to whether a 'stuffed' (taxidermy) echidna was 'real' or not.

'Is it alive?"  "NO."  "Then it can't be real!"  A lively discussion ensued!  Finally they were convinced that it was a 'real' echidna, even if it was not still alive!

The finger puppets, and making a hand puppet from a paper bag are always a hit with the younger children - such as this pre-preppie (above)... as well as years 2-3 students (below).

The Junior School theatre was an amazing venue for the presentations. Note the 'real' echidna under the big screen, as well as the original art work for the book (quilts) on display.

The display in the school library for bookweek was impressive!. Two girls were fascinated by the themed display for 'Mrs Echidna's Dilemma'. I love the plush toys of a possum and kookaburra juxtaposed with the taxidermy echidna, and other books on the theme!

More of the book week displays - Mrs Echidna's Dilemma plus the 'space theme' of another display for 'Books Across the Universe'.
