Revisiting University of Sunshine Coast

Once again, Betty has been invited to speak to pre-service teachers at a lecture on teaching literacy at the University of the Sunshine Coast.  'Mrs Echidna's Dilemma', with its multi-modal approach, is valuable not only in teaching literacy, but also links into other areas of the curriculum.

Studnet feedback from last year's lecture was most positive.  One student emailed the lecturer, Dr Carol Smith:

'....Betty's presentation was so much more than an 'author talk'.  Not only was Betty incredibly funny, she was inspirational.  As she talked about her journey with 'Mrs Echidna's Dilemma', I was thinking of not only all the ways I could incorporate the book into literacy lessons, but also all the ways I could link it to other areas of the curriculum....

The presentation was very relevant to the work I have been doing compiling teaching strategies for literacy.  I could use the book in so many ways....' [Robyn 16-09-2011]
