     Title: Narangba Library Book Reading
Betty read 'Mrs Echidna's Dilemma' at the Narangba Library on 4th June. What fun we had!

Betty read 'Mrs Echidna's Dilemma' at the Narangba Library on 4th June. The quilts were already on display for the launch the next day. We even had 'Mrs Echidna' herself on display, courtesy of the Queensland Museum! (can you see her in the photo?)  After Betty read the story, we used the finger puppets while singing some simple songs about the animals we had met in the book.

Of course, under 5's need action, so we also sang an adaptation of another familiar nursery song, turning it into 'One echidna went waddling....' and as she called for another, and then another, echidna to come, we ended up with an 'echidna train', just as you see in the bush!

After that, the children made their hand puppet of Mrs Echidna to take home. What fun they had! The best part of course was putting the 'puggle' into the pouch. A newly hatched echidna is the same size and shape as a jelly-bean, so that is what we used. I doubt if too many 'puggles' made it outside the door of the library!
